Every now and then, the Lord will ask me to share my faith with someone. He would do so by asking me to, “Please share Me with” the person. Whenever he has done this, it has always become a significant experience.
On one of our company trips to Los Angeles to promote our services at a technology show, I was helping set up our table right before the show opened, and I looked up to see a nicely dressed professional woman walk briskly by. The Holy Spirit spoke to me saying, “Share Me with that woman”. However, she was just in my sight for a few seconds before she passed by.
A little while later, the same woman came up to me at our table and started asking me about our service offerings. I explained as usual but wondered about what the Lord had asked me. We ended the question-and-answer session, and she thanked me for the information before leaving.
Lunch time came and I was headed to the food court area when I got a tap on my shoulder. I looked back and there was the woman. She asked me if she could buy me lunch. I agreed and we went through the food line and found a table.
She started the conversation stating that she perceived that I was a Christian, and that she was a Jew; she wondered if I would share my beliefs with her. I promptly gave her a fifteen-minute Genesis to Revelations overview emphasizing our Christian connection to her Jewish roots and our belief that Jesus was the Jewish Messiah. She thanked me afterward and we parted.
The show was very crowded, and the days were long so by the time it was over, we were all really tired.
We were at the airport in line to get our boarding pass when the Holy Spirit asked me to, “Share Me with this couple,” which were in line ahead of me. I looked at them trying to think of something to say when I realized I was just too beat to be any good at any conversation. So, I said this to the Lord, “Lord, please have them sit next to me on the plane as I am just too tired.”
We were flying with Southwest Airlines, known for its first-come-first-served boarding and seating. We were in the aisle of the plane telling jokes when I got a slap on my shoulder by the gal behind me while she stated that she wanted to sit with me, “Because he is funny.” I turned around to see the girl of the couple I was behind in the boarding pass line.
She sat next to me and after we took off, I turned to her to introduce myself. I told her I had something that might seem strange to tell her but if she wanted me to stop, I would. She okayed me to continue, and I told her of how the Lord had asked me to share my faith with her and the guy that was with her. She was instantly shocked and asked me if I knew what she was doing. I told her that I didn’t and that I had only seen her in line.
It turns out, her mother was dying of cancer, and she was flying home to see her. Her mother was so ill that she didn’t know if she would be alive when she got there. She had called her mom from the airport and the last thing her mom had said to her was she wanted to know she had accepted Christ before she died.
I asked her what her name was, and she told me it was Danny. I spent the rest of the flight talking about faith. Emotionally, this was very difficult for me, but I held it together.
When we got off the plane in Kansas City, she too had a break. I saw her standing there as we were leaving but I wished I had gone back and prayed with her. I hope she made it in time to see her mom but most of all, got to know Jesus.
