Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Assassination

Jan and I turned on the TV early Saturday morning to watch cartoons.  Instead of cartoons though, it was the news, an update on the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in California.

I yelled out and Shirley, who was in the kitchen, heard me.  She asked what was going on and I told her that RFK had been shot.  She commented that we must be mistaken as it was John F. Kennedy who had been shot.  I responded, stating that it was not John but Bobby who had just been shot.

She then came in the living room to look at the TV herself.  She let out a bit of a yelp when she saw that it was Bobby that had been killed and went back in the kitchen making a comment on how she just couldn’t believe that they had shot another Kennedy.

It was quite shocking to follow the information being presented on the assassination.  One thing I knew for sure, that morning was a very important day in my life, and that way more was up than what I could then know.
